This is a note to Kate and the staff at Free State Kitchen to say 'Thanks!' for the delicious Thanksgiving dinner last month. As an American visiting England, it was a real treat to celebrate my favorite holiday with a properly prepared, mid-day feast. Free State Kitchen had everything to make for a perfect Thanksgiving. From the starter rounds of breads, cheeses, apples and pumpkin soup, to the main course of Turkey, stuffing, cranberries, mash and sweet squash, green beans and of course endless boats of gravy that carried myself and friends from Liverpool into food bliss. Topping everything with a dessert course of Pecan pie with cream was above and beyond what I could have hoped for.
Liverpool is lucky to have a place like Free State Kitchen and I hope to return here whenever I am in town. -

A couple of my friends and I paid a visit to the wonderful Free State Kitchen in the late afternoon on a quest for burgers, beers and a wonderful outdoor seating area, a luxury that's few and far between in the city. The food was fairly overpriced causing my friend and I to split a burger and then for our gang to relocate to a different eatery for pudding but the food was really delicious. I opted for a bacon, bbq sauce, red onion and cheese burger and didn't find it too heavy in the slightest and the gin and elderflower tonic was extremely yummy. The beer garden was fabulous, sophisticated and thankfully not in the shade (a feature that restaurant and pub owners seem to forget about sometimes when first establishing their business). All in all, I would definitely go back but for a lazy day with your friends in the sunshine, it's just a little too pricey for me to stay all day.

Just had the wings and sweet corn fritters and both were good. The rest of the menu looks great too. Nice decor and friendly service too.
